Sofia Margarita Vergara (Spanish:, born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian-American actor as well as a television producer, presenter and model. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television between 2013 until 2020.Vergara was a star when she began hosting two TV shows for Spanish-speaking television network Univision in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was Vergara's first significant acting gig in English. In the following years, she starred in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's Comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009 which was nominated for an ALMA Award nomination). In 2009, she began playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett for the ABC comedy series Modern Family for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.Vergara was also featured in the movies The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), Fading Gigolo (2013) Chef (2014) and Hot Pursuit (2015). The voice-overs she did were Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). She was also in The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was also the highest-paid Hollywood actress in the year 2020 [citation needed]. Vergara is a judge on America’s Got Talent since 2020. Vergara was the daughter of an Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla. [8] Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara was a homemaker , and her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher. Five of her siblings and a lot of her friends were known as "Toti". Vergara was a dental student for three years at the National University of Colombia, however she decided to leave two semesters short of completing her degree to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
