Thora Birch

Thora Birch was born March 11 1983. She is an American producer, actress, and director. Her first film appearance was in Purple People Eater (1988) and was awarded a Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years of Age". Birch gained notoriety as a child actress by appearing in films such as All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996).Her breakthrough role came in 1999 when she played Jane Burnham in the highly critically acclaimed film American Beauty, for which she earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2001, she was nominated as Best Actress for Ghost World. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance in the title role in Homeless to Harvard The Liz Murray Story. Birch has also been a part of Dungeons & Dragons (2000) (2001), The Hole (2004), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006) and Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009). Birch played the role of Whisperer Mary/Gamma during the season 10 episode of The Walking Dead (2019-202). Birch the eldest of Jack Birch's son was born in Los Angeles. Birch who's family was named Biersch, is German-Jewish and Scandinavian. She also has French-Canadianand French-Canadian and Italian ancestry.  Her name, Thora, is derived from the Norse god of thunder and lightning "Thor" which could be her name were she a boy. She is the younger sister of Kian Bolt Birch.Birch's parents are former adult film actors who were in the film Deep Throat. Based on their own experiences working in the entertainment industry they were not keen to promote her, but were persuaded to show her photo to agents through a babysitter who observed her mimicking commercials. Birch's first major break came at the age of four, after her babysitter brought her to an audition for the Quaker Oats commercial.
